Depending on how soiled your carpet is will determine the amount of spot cleaner used. Usually, it takes 30 minutes to 1.5 hours for the spot cleaner to dry. Spots return due to wet or foam carpet cleaning methods that leave soapy solvents behind to dry in the carpet. Dried soap residue acts as a magnet by attracting dirt and dust buildups in the carpet. Spots do not return on their own. (In fact, they never leave.) They return to the surface due to substances that have been left behind in the carpet. On the other hand, stains are different from spots. Stains have embedded themselves in the fibers of the carpet and are almost impossible to eliminate.
